  • The Regional Government of the Community of Madrid allows the transport of goods in all areas of the Community including within the affected areas.

  • Fenadismer reminds all the Autonomous Communities of Spain that in case of executing of any declaration of a state of alarm, road transport must be exempted as it is essential.

  • The list of Autonomous Communities that requires travelers and carriers to register in health terms is as follows: Galicia, Madrid, Aragon, Catalonia, Navarra, the Basque Country and other European countries.

  • Belgium has decided to establish entry controls into the country, both for people and goods. This obligation, which has been in force since August 1th, requires foreign carriers entering Belgium to fill out an official form.

  • The announced stowage strike in the port of Bilbao changes its dates. It is now called for the same duration, from August 8 to 28, in alternate working hours.

  • The unions of the stowage of the Port of Bilbao present a notice of strike that would take place for a period of 20 days from 3th of August until 23th of August.

  • BOE publishes Order PCM / 531/2020 of June 16, which establishes the Spanish ports and airports designated as "Entry Points with capacity to attend Public Health Emergencies of International Importance", and which adds to the ports Algeciras and Tarifa as entry points.

  • Spain will open its borders with the end of the state of alarm on June 21th. 
  • Our neighbors in France lift the closure of their land, air and sea borders, implemented to combat the coronavirus pandemic, but it will maintain restrictions with Spain and the United Kingdom.
  • The border between Spain and Portugal will officially open on July 1.

  • The Government of Spain has decided to increase to 15 the number of airports available as entry points to Spain adapted for de-escalation, after including 'Seve Ballesteros-Santander' and Bilbao, according to the ministerial order that was published in the BOE.
  • The Government of the Canary Islands will take the temperature of passengers in ports and airports, both on routes between islands and from outside the archipelago; in addition to controlling the reasons for the journey of people who move by air or sea from outside the Canary Islands.

  • Today it has been published in a list of spanish areas that go to phase 2 or phase 3. In this sense, Madrid, Barcelona and Castilla y León go to phase 2 of the de-escalation and the rest of Spain changes to phase 3.
  • The DGT cuts the validity of driving licenses.

  • Last Tuesday, May 27, some specific and temporary measures relating to the renewal or extension of certain certificates, permits, licenses and authorizations were published in the EU 2020/698 Regulation. They are measures that will have immediate and harmonized validity in all Member States, regardless of the national measures that are imposed.

  • The Council of the European Union approved this week the two pending measures of the transport aid package presented by the European Commission on April 29th. In addition to the extension of certifications and the relaxation of port charges, adopted last week, aid is added to airlines and airports.

  • Since yesterday, May 21th, the use of masks in mandatory spaces is mandatory. Included in public transport. A measure whose objective is to continue reducing the risk of contagion and that must be met when it is not possible to keep the two meters of distance.

  • The Council of the European Union has approved this Wednesday a series of measures that will allow to extend the certificates and licenses that are required of operators and, in addition, the payment of port fees will be made more flexible. The entry into force is scheduled for next week.

  • Our neighbors in France and Italian are beginning to impose measures to facilitate international transport in this new phase that is opening during health crisis. On the one hand, since May 18th, Italy no longer requires transport certificates from transporters or the declaration of the Prevention department. And on the other hand, France has reissued a decree partially lifting restrictions on the movement of trucks from May 20 to June 1.

  • Spain limits its entry points to passenger ships and flights. There are a total of 8 ports and 12 Spanish airports. These places were established as entry points with the capacity to attend public health emergencies of international importance and are the following: Barcelona-El Prat, Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas, Alicante-Elche, Seville, Valencia, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Gran Canaria, Tenerife South, Lanzarote-César Manrique, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza as airports; Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga, Valencia, Vigo, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife as ports.

  • The European Commission, after two months of pandemic, begins a minimum agreement for the transport sector. The purpose is to have unified standards in matters such as traffic regulations, tachograph, ITV permits, etc.
  • The Government of Spain proposed last Tuesday, April 28th, a so-called "Plan for the Transition towards a new Normality", after its approval by the Council of Ministers, this plan will determine aspects related to the logistics sector.

  • Our neighbors in Italy, starting today, will begin the opening of the factories. During the month of May, the rest of the places will open. On the other hand, France will apply it from May 11. Portugal will do it on May 3.

  • United States continues to maintain the closure of borders with Europe. 
  • The Ministries of Transport of Spain and Morocco have signed an action protocol that aims to "facilitate and promote the proper conduct of road transport between both countries" during the coronavirus crisis.
  • Puertos del Estado began yesterday, April 13, the process to complete the distribution of masks corresponding to the maritime sector, thus fulfilling the mandate of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
  • Regarding the situation of our european neighbors, Austria, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Norway, they are the only countries that have already officially published dates for the giving up of the confinement in the coming days. In fact, in Austria some businesses may already open as from today.

  • Today, Monday, 13th of April, non-essential activity returns to the scene, paralyzed by the decree through the recoverable paid leave. Regarding the transport and logistics sector, it has been fully operational at all times which it has been considered as essential activity.

  • The 51 countries signatories to the International Agreement on the Transport of Dangerous Goods ADR agree to harmonize the extension of permits and authorizations for drivers and vehicles due to the coronavirus crisis. This has been published in the BOE on April 10. Click here.

  • Any driver who has expired the tachograph card since March 6 and who has not been given the renewed card may continue to carry out printing the activities.

  • The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has confirmed the criteria to assign the share that belongs to the transport companies of the first batch of eight million masks purchased through Puertos del Estado.
  • It is clarified that the new extension of the Alarm State will not be final and in the future, it will be more extensions depending on the evolution of the situation.

  • One of the countries where we have our own office, Mexico, does not see activity in its ports slowed down.
  • The European Commission requires EU member countries to give guarantees to the free movement of transporters and other workers across borders.
  • Catalonia has suspended the restrictions on the movement of trucks that were still in force for vehicles intended for transport.

  • The activity in the container terminals of APM Terminals and TTIA of the Port of Algeciras was paralyzed in the afternoon. After this, the activity was normal.
  • The Ministry circulates an instruction to avoid stops to carriers.

  • Puertos del Estado launches a campaign to highlight the operation of the ports so that it communicates in the different specialized websites within the sector.
  • At a press conference, it is clarified and reaffirmed that "transport is clearly included within the activities considered essential."

  • From this Sunday. 29th of March, all professional drivers must have a mandatory rest at least 24 hours a week. The new order modifies the order which was defined on March 16th.

  • The Government communicates a series of measures to ensure total confinement from March 30th to April 9th. A series of activities are defined as essential, including "Activities and services that allow logistics activity." News from 14/03/2020

  • Publication of the Royal Decree declaring the State of Alarm in Spain. This decree guarantees customs transit at locations of entry or border inspection points in ports or airports.
  • The temporary exception of compliance with the rules on driving and relax times in the transport of goods is published in the BOE. This applies from March 10th with a maximum period of 30 days and it will affect in the freight transport service which is developed in affected areas or with origin or destination in affected areas.   • All Spanish ports guarantee the continuity of freight operations to ensure the supply chain.

News from 13/03/2020

  • Spain prohibits the entry of passenger ships from Italy and cruise ships of any origin. This measure will take effect from today March 13th till March 26th. During 14 days Spain executes this limitation. Nevertheless, it can be extended for future new periods.
  • Morocco suspends sea and air connections with Spain. Because of this decision, the port of Algeciras has added that the passenger line connecting the enclave with Tanger Med has been suspended, though lorry-with-driver traffic continues, as it does on the sea routes between Spain and Italy.
  • Spain prohibits the entry of passenger ships originating in Italy and all cruises. The restriction will not apply to exclusively cargo vessels or to drivers of tractor heads of rolled goods.
  • The port of Algeciras takes extreme measures to guarantee the health and safety of the stevedores.
